I offer a warm, non judgemental space to quickly identify issues which are affecting your wellbeing, your relationships with others and Identify the changes you want to make in your life.
I am particularly experienced with working with clients experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, postnatal depression, panic attacks, chronic physical health issues, anger, suicidal thoughts. In addition, I have a particular interest in working with clients affected by loss and bereavement and who are experiencing complex family dynamics.
I am an Integrative Counsellor and practice primarily from a Humanistic perspective, incorporating Psychodynamic theory, Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
I offer brief and longer term counselling to explore present difficulties or issues from the past that may be causing distress.
I strongly believe in a collaborative approach and encourage clients to identify their personal goals for counselling, any potential barriers to making those changes and review client progress regularly.
I have 19 years’ experience working in charity and health settings supporting clients with mental health conditions, addictions, debt and housing issues. I have also supported families looking after people affected by dementia, cancer and who are receiving end of life care.
Helping people and enabling them to find their strengths and resilience sparked my passion for undertaking training as a Counsellor. I hold a BSc in Psychology and a Level 4 Integrative Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am an accredited member with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
As a Counsellor, I have worked both in the voluntary sector and in private practice. I have counselled The Churches Counselling Service of Wales, Swansea Young Single Homeless Project and at Ty Elis Counselling Service in Porthcawl.
