Jess qualified as an Integrative Counsellor in 2008 and is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and the International Society of Schema Therapy. She has worked in both the NHS and voluntary sector acquiring over 10 years’ experience working with people with addictive behaviours (alcohol & drug misuse including smoking cessation), complex or multiple issues and people in crisis.
Jess has a particular interest in working with people on a deeper level or with people who have issues that keep arising throughout their lifetime; complex mental health issues such as personality disorders, substance misuse and narcissistic personality disorders. She uses Schema therapy as her main approach for people needing longer term ongoing therapy.
Jess can tailor her counselling approach to the person’s needs and believes the counselling relationship is fundamental to the process. She is currently undertaking formal training towards schema certification and prefers to work using this model. She is also able to use a combination of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), psycho dynamic and relational therapy and enjoys working in a solution focused and collaborative way. Jess aims to provide you with a safe, non-judgemental and nurturing environment to talk about your issues and welcomes all enquiries and questions about whether she would be the best suited counsellor for you.
