Paula Morgan

My name is Paula, and I am a mindfulness practitioner as well as a counsellor and clinical supervisor. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing a curious awareness to our moment-to-moment experience allowing us to be more present in our lives. Mindfulness supports all aspects of my life and teaches me to treat myself with kindness and compassion by providing a space to observe my internal life without judgement. The benefits of practising mindfulness have physical as well as psychological benefits which include the reduction of feelings of stress and anxiety. The ability to regulate emotions and to enhance sleep. It is effective at lowering blood pressure, increasing clarity of thought and aiding the development of self-awareness. Additionally, mindfulness has the potential to improve creativity, concentration and focus.

In my one-to-one and group sessions I offer clients guidance in finding and developing a mindfulness practice that is sustainable and works for them. Sessions are taught using the Mindfulness Now programme which is a combination of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. My courses run for 4, 6 or 8 weeks to allow for accessibility, one to one sessions will be tailored to a client’s individual needs. All participants will be provided with a workbook and recordings of meditations to support their practice between sessions. (Currently sessions are held online via Zoom).

The other parts of my therapeutic practice include counselling and supervision and is upheld by my core belief that everyone has the right to a safe space to experience themselves in their ‘wholeness’. To be who they truly are without sacrificing aspects of their selves to please others. I offer the opportunity to work with any self-limiting thoughts, behaviour and attitudes to enable clients to understand themselves better and to live more authentically.  Using a combination of compassion focussed therapy, psychoanalysis, mindfulness, creative methods including therapeutic journalling to help you to integrate all aspects of yourself and live more fully.

My experience of providing supervision is extensive and includes practitioners across the helping professions. I have the privilege of supervising peer mentors, support workers, caseworkers, nurses, counselling psychology students and both experienced and in training counsellors. I offer supervision on a one to one or group basis.
