Misbah Khan

Introduction

Misbah holds a BSc in Psychology, a doctorate in clinical psychology (DClinPsy), a diploma in CBT and a qualification in systemic practice. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in biomedical sciences.

Misbah has experience of working with a range of presentations including complex trauma and the whole spectrum of problems related to anxiety and depression. Misbah has expertise in psychological approaches that treat trauma, including childhood trauma, and has trained in both Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Most recently she has completed the DBT masterclass. Misbah has also worked in health settings in the NHS where illness/treatment related trauma have caused difficulties for people undergoing regular medical procedures.

Other than complex trauma, anxiety and depression Misbah will work with issues such as health, abuse, addiction, anger, bullying, cancel, childhood sexual abuse, eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, infertility, insomnia/sleep disorder, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, personality disorder, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, rape & sexual assault, relationships, self harm, sex addiction, stress (including work related). EMDR

EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is the treatment of choice for PTSD and is also effective for traumatic experiences in general. EMDR is a specialist, integrative model that includes CBT, hypnosis and neurobiological mechanisms to trauma. Thus, it is suggested that EMDR is more effective than simply replaying or attempting to ‘rescript’ traumatic experiences alone.
