Vickie is as Integrative Counsellor working with individuals over the short and long term. She considers the counselling relationship at the heart of all therapeutic work and provides a safe space in which you are welcomed into a warm, empathic, non-judgemental and genuine relationship. As well as using verbal ways of communication, Vickie can work creatively with those adults who may find it hard to express their thoughts and feelings verbally, or are looking for alternative ways to express and explore. If appropriate to the client this creativity evolves through the work with an individual and can incorporate, for example, imagery, metaphor, sand, modelling clay and art. Vickie believes exploring, either creatively or verbally, can bring about understanding and acceptance, helping to heal and move through current difficulties.
Vickie works with a wide range of issues including physical, emotional and sexual abuse experienced in childhood or adulthood, depression, anxiety, trauma, post-natal difficulties, eating disorders, self-harm, suicide ideation and issues around transition, loss and change.
Vickie holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People and is a registered member of the British Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (BACP). She has worked as a counsellor for Cardiff Women’s Aid, Flying Start, Affordable Talk, Newport Community Counselling Service, Place to Be and currently Newport Independent School Based Counselling Service. She also worked creativity using images and sound within the Media for over fifteen years.
