Introduction

I have worked at the Talk in the Bay practice since 2012, working face-to-face with clients. Now I am working for the online side of Talk in the Bay, giving clients here and abroad more options in the way they access therapy.

I am a BACP registered integrative counsellor, so I can call on skills from a number of disciplines. However, over the last few years I have concentrated on training in, and using, schema therapy. Its techniques help us identify and, where helpful, change, thoughts, feelings or behaviours that we may have unconsciously evolved to help us cope with situations, but which are not always in our best interests.

I also specialise in counselling clients who have experienced sexual abuse and rape, helping them deal with the debilitating symptoms, including PTSD, which can result. This work can also benefit clients who have experienced other forms of trauma, such a car accidents.

I have introduced CBTI (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia) sessions, based on a programme devised in the US and backed by substantial research, to the practice. Online therapy is well suited to this short treatment, with materials, sleep diaries etc. being emailed to clients.

I am a member of an international schema therapy online forum, where therapists exchange knowledge on this relatively new technique, and currently use Zoom, a secure platform, to talk to clients.

We will work collaboratively in a confidential, non-judgemental setting, to help you – an amazing and unique person – to the next steps on your life’s journey.

‘When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves’ – Viktor Frankl.
